Running for two

Munchkin is starting to stand on her own. Not for long, just a few seconds, but it’s a start.

She also for sure said cat today! She was chasing our cat and saying ‘ca! Ca!’ and laughing so hard. I’m pretty sure she’s said dog and kai too, but this is the first time I’ve been totally sure of what she’s saying.

Because I like torturing myself, I took the girls to get their flu shots today. It took almost an hour. Usually they get you in and out, but of course when I’m there by myself, it was a long wait. Kai was bouncing off the walls. I wanted to hog tie her and stick her in the corner. Since this is frowned upon, I settled on gritting my teeth and hissing at her.

I got my shot first to show them it didn’t hurt.

Josie took her shot like a champ. She giggled while they got her ready, whimpered a few seconds after the shot, and then she was fine.

Kai screamed when I told her it was her turn. She screamed when I pulled her pants down (their shots go in their leg). She screamed as they got ready. She screamed as she got her shot. She stopped screaming as soon as she had a lollipop. She’s been milking it all day to anyone who’ll listen to her.

Kix and goldfish are an acceptable dinner, right?

My feet like me again.

My awesome husband insisted I go out for a few hours by myself today. It was so nice to just run errands and get coffee and a pedicure.

I still came home early because I missed the girls.

Before I had kids, Saturdays during football season were spent getting drunk and watching the Gators play. Sundays were spent recovering.

Now my Saturdays are spent playing outside, watching Disney movies and reading stories. Sundays are spent on long runs, making a big breakfast and more of what I did Saturday.

Both are fun, but I prefer my weekends now.

Given the choice between frozen and sword and the stone, Kai chose the sword and the stone. There is hope for her after all.

We did fartleks at today’s workout. My warm up was only supposed to be five minutes, but I had to make it seven to make sure I was on the long trail. Then it was 1 minute hard, 1 minute easy five times, five minutes easy, then repeat of one minute intervals then a cool down.

I felt really good. It was a gorgeous day. I went the opposite way on the trail, so there was hardly anyone out there. Kai laughed the whole time and yelled for me to go faster. She’s very motivating.

I forgot how much I loved sprinting. I need to do speed work more often.

I love her so much.

I ran four miles today, and it was awful. I seriously questioned how I ran a marathon two weeks ago.

A little rain doesn’t slow her down.
